Crab-Cheese Bread Appetizer

Several of my recipes are inspired by restaurant fare and this is one of them. They seldom share their recipes but many of them aren’t too hard to figure out. This is one of them. I think this is from Champ’s. It’s their crab, cheese bread appetizer. Here’s how I do mine…

You will need a baguette, crab (I use canned and it doesn’t need to be expensive), grated cheese (I used a mix of sharp and mild cheddar), Old Bay seasoning and marinara sauce for dipping.

Slice the baguette into approximately 1-inch slices. Slicing on the diagonal makes a nice presentation.

Mix approximately 8 oz. crab meat with a tablespoon of Old Bay. You may want to start with a little less than that and work your way up to a level of seasoning you like. Pile the crab mixture onto the baguette slices.

Cover the slices with grated cheese and place on a baking sheet. I use foil to simplify the clean-up process.

Place under a pre-heated broiler and watch it closely. It should only take 60 to 90 seconds for the cheese to melt. Serve with marinara sauce for dipping.
