Compound (Garlic) Butter

Compound butter is virtually any butter that has something else mixed in it.  It sounds a little more sophisticated than “garlic butter”, and mine has more than garlic in it.

 

 

 

 

 

You will need:

  • 2 sticks of butter (I use salted but you can use unsalted if you choose), room temperature
  • 2 tbsp chopped shallots
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic (I use so much chopped garlic I buy it already minced)
  • 1 tbsp + 1tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp chives, chopped
  • 1 tsp garlic salt

Mix all ingredients in a small bowl.

After the ingredients are well incorporated, take half the mixture and place it on wax paper.  Form into a log and twist the ends to keep it snug.   Refrigerate for several hours or overnight.  It can also be frozen.  Like most non-baking recipes, ingredient amounts can be adjusted to suit your individual taste.  PLUS, this butter makes a great finish for a grilled steak.  Lay a pat or two on the steak just off the grill, yummmmmmmm.
